As we age, we lose the integrity of the collagen that is the structural support for our skin and fat pads. Loss of this critical support leads to the sagging jowls and dull, wrinkled skin that gives our faces an aged appearance. Face and neck lifts have been a long-standing staple of rejuvenation but have carried negative sentiment due to poorly performed procedures leaving an unnatural windswept appearance to tissues. Fortunately, at Thomas Dermatology, with locations in Las Vegas and in Henderson, Nevada, Dr. Matthew Hand has perfected minimally invasive surgical techniques to correct these tell-tale signs of aging while avoiding the windswept look providing natural results.
Face and neck lifts are surgical procedures designed to correct the sagging skin and drooping fat pads that occur with aging. There are dozens of approaches to face lift surgery; each approach is unique to a patient’s needs and contingent on the surgeon’s experience and aptitude.
At Thomas Dermatology, Dr. Hand utilizes various approaches to tighten and reposition underlying soft tissues to achieve your unique goals. Through a combination of minimally invasive techniques, Dr. Hand is able to provide results that are authentic, natural, and restorative for each individual.

There are dozens of approaches to facelift surgery; each approach is unique to a patient’s needs and contingent on the surgeon’s experience and aptitude. To find out which procedure is best for you, Dr. Matthew Hand will review your aesthetic goals and develop a personalized treatment plan.
Prior to your procedure, your surgeon will review your operative plan, including all adjunct procedures, and answer any questions you may have. Comprehensive pre- and post operative instructions will also be provided.
Your surgery will be performed under sedation commensurate with the extent of work that is planned. Most procedures are performed with local numbing while you’re in a relaxed state. After making you comfortable, surgery and all planned adjunct procedures are performed.
To maximize healing and optimize your results, be sure to follow all of your post-surgery instructions. Take medications as directed, ice the treatment area if needed, keep treated skin clean, and get plenty of rest. Avoid any strenuous or vigorous activity or movements that pull or tug on the treated tissues during the healing process.
Downtime is variable based on procedures performed and individual rates of healing. You can expect to take at least two weeks off of any vigorous activity or exercise but may require more time depending on what treatments you’ve received and how you heal.
